Two of the boys from War/Dance, Dominic Akena and John Okello, will be visiting the US for the first time this week. Dominic is a former child soldier and, if you’ve seen the film, is a xylophone prodigy; John’s family has been deeply traumatized by the multiple kidnappings of his father.

On Thursday, August 21st, they’ll be performing with another Ugandan artist, Samite, to pay tribute to the power of music to heal and inspire. The event’s at 7 pm at the Meridian House at 1630 Crescent Place, NW, Washington, DC  20009. To RSVP, email sean@fine-films.com.
