We know, we know - it’s been awhile. Thanks for all the feedback from the last IC Soundtrack entry. We’ll try to make it more regular. If you have a request for music used, leave it in the comments and we’ll get to it, promise.

Based on the last Soundtrack post, we’ve had requests about the music used in Black is for Sunday: The Story of a Displaced Child.

Two of the featured song are Sparta’s “Erase It Again” and Switchfoot’s “American Dream.”

Sparta was gracious enough to lend their music to Sunday, and the song “Erase It Again” comes off of their album Threes. If you’re interested to hear more, MySpace has it.

Switchfoot has consistently supported what we’re doing at Invisible Children. Besides “American Dream,” their music also showed up in the Rough Cut, with the song “Gone,” and lead singer Jon Foreman made a surprise appearance at last year’s send off for the national tour, singing an acoustic set to the roadies. Find out more about Switchfoot by checking out their website.

A letter from Resolve Uganda.

Dear Invisible Children supporters,

I just wanted to follow up on last week’s Global NGO Statement and again say thank you. We are still awaiting news about the Ri-Kwangba meeting of northern Ugandan leaders and the mediator with Joseph Kony, which was reportedly delayed at least one day. Yet, regardless of what happens, I think we together made a strong stand of principles, and even more importantly, a stand of solidarity with those who continue working tirelessly to salvage the peace process in its many parts.

Last week, our statement was mentioned in the reporting of Reuters, Reuters AlertNet, ReliefWeb and The Mail & Guardian. It will likely also feature in an AP story on the outcome of the Ri-Kwangba meeting. Today’s New Vision also ran the full text of the statement, though they perplexingly put it as an Op/Ed under my name. We had sent the statement to them with all the signatories and press release, so I am very confused where they got the idea that it was an opinion piece. In any case, we have asked them to run a correction with the names of all the signatories. Our sincere apologies

Following up on the statement, we (Resolve Uganda) asked U.S. peace advocates to sign their individual names to the same message. In just 48 hours, we had over 9,000 signatures! These names as well as our NGO Statement with your respective logos will be delivered to all offices of the U.S. Senate over the coming weeks.

Finally, I hope we can remain in touch and continue to work together to ensure that the humanitarian process and momentum achieved through the Juba peace process is sustained. Thanks for all the work you do.

Kind regards,
Peter J. Quaranto
Senior Researcher/Conflict Analyst
Resolve Uganda

For the latest edition of ‘IC in the Blogosphere,’ we’ll continue to highlight some of the articles floating around the web about IC. With new shout-outs popping up every day, we’ll weed through and show you some that pop out to us. If you find any yourself, go ahead and link to it in the comments. Without further ado, here ya go:

Pete Wentz continues to raise awareness, with the most recent online shout-out coming from MTV’s Buzzworthy blog.

Nina recalls the Global Night Commute from 2006.

While it’s not a blog, it’s still worth noting the online coverage of A Beatles Marathon for the Children of Uganda. A Beatle-centric event raising money for IC.

The writers at Anything Can Happen recently saw the Rough Cut for the first time and are hosting the YouTube videos on their page.

If this is your first time checking out the blog, look to your left and dig through some of the older articles just sitting in cyberspace, waiting to be read…

A letter from Resolve Uganda.

Dear Invisible Children supporters,

Yesterday, more than 30 humanitarian, faith-based and advocacy organizations from around the world united in a statement of support for efforts to salvage northern Uganda’s peace process and to declare that there is still hope for peace in Uganda.

And today, I’m asking you to add your name to that impressive list .

Local leaders from northern Uganda, who have worked tirelessly to achieve peace for their people, will be trekking back into the jungle this weekend, perhaps for the last time, to meet with LRA leader Joseph Kony. They’ll be trying to convince him to sign onto the final peace agreement that would formally end Uganda’s 22-year war.

Their courageous perseverance is inspiring, and we want them to know that we stand in solidarity with them during this crucial time. Even if Kony ultimately does not sign, their efforts are key to ensuring that the progress achieved already in these negotiations isn’t reversed.

Click here to add your name to this petition and use your voice for peace.

We’ve set an ambitious goal: 10,000 signatures by the time the meeting takes place on Saturday, and we need you to act now to help us reach it.

Not only will you be sending a message to the people of northern Uganda, you will be sending a message to your leaders that this process deserves our patience and persistence. We will be hand delivering this statement to every U.S. Senate office, requesting their assistance in helping to ensure a safe and peaceful future for the people of northern Uganda and the wider region.

Will your name be on it?

10,000 signatures in less than two days. It’s the most ambitious goal we’ve set since this campaign for peace began, but we believe there could not be a more important time to act.

Rather than sit by and give in to growing international cynicism, we can stand with the people of northern Uganda and lend our support, our voices, our names to peace.
