Get up and act, there is no way to say you can't if you don't try.

Thoughts:
I think it is sad but at the same time it makes you want to do something.

Inspiration:
The movie moved all three of us to act and we want to raise money for the children in Africa and the IC organization

You can make a difference if you are moved by the video so get up and act there is no way to say you can't if you don't try

Story:
Me and my friends Mady and victoria got an assembly at our school when we found out that the IC team was coming to Little rock. Many students attended the assembly and were moved by the video they bought the bracelets that we sold. We plan to set up a booth at Riverfest and sell braclets. We will also show the video at Riverfest. Riverfest is a big event where people go in Little Rock and set up booths and sell things and there is probaly 3/4 of Little Rock that goes to this. We hope to earn lots of money for Invisible Children.

Being a firm believer that apathy and indifference are two issues confronting the current generation, I think Invisible Children is doing a great job at challenging everyone to put their voice to work and help change the world.

Thoughts:
Invisible Children is easily one of the best eye-opening documentaries I've ever seen. I think it's the youthful energy that runs throughout the film that makes it so compelling and drives students to take action. Being a firm believer that apathy and indifference are two issues confronting the current generation, I think Invisible Children is doing a great job at challenging everyone to put their voice to work and help change the world.

Inspiration:
I live in a rich, white middle class society that almost seems to live in a bubble. I don't agree with what a lot of students do with their free time and money and saw it as a perpetual cycle, adding more narcissism to the bad mix of an apathetic community. Many kids didn't read or watch the news and barely even knew what was going on within their country. But rather than staying angry and frustrated with my peers, I figured it was a great time to educate students about what's going on outside in the world. I wanted to help shift the focus and have them realize that their position in society can be used for the betterment of society and the world. After being contacted by the Invisible Children offices after expressing interest, I immediately went to work of setting up a screening at my school. Apparently, many teachers and faculty members have tried pushing for their own special interest assemblies, but were unsuccessful. With the help of supportive advisors, I was able to push my cause through and have become the first student to arrange an assembly and screening on this level of world awareness in the fifty years of my school history.

Tell People:
We are the generation of change. All we need to do is stand up together and take the responsibility of helping our world. We can end wars, and we can achieve peace. It has been accomplished before. All we need is strength in numbers. So pass the word and spread the awareness!

Story:
I guess I've been somewhat destined to help others. Besides, my parents chose my Japanese kanji symbols for my name to represent "Hope of Asia". While I haven't done any projects with Asia yet, I've always felt the need to put others before myself. I was taught to do that as a way to show respect. I stumbled across Invisible Children through a friend. She didn't really say anything but had a link on her signature tag on a message board we both chatted on. I figured I'd click it one day (the name intrigued me), and before I knew it, I had ordered a copy of the DVD and had it in my hands. After I watched the documentary, I was shocked to hear of such events that were left unseen by the rest of the global community. How could this happen? Why isn't anyone doing anything about this? I immediately started to spread the word to friends and family. Some had heard of the documentary while others were unfamiliar with it. Early this school year, I was appointed as president of Diversity Club. I saw my goal as to not only help celebrate the student body's diversity, but to also aid those children and people our age through fundraising and awareness programs. It was the perfect opportunity to bring Invisible Children to my school, and that's where my adventure started. Since then, I haven't looked back.

If you are giveng the heart to give then don't let anything get in your way!

Thoughts:
AMAZING!! BREATH TAKING!! Every ounce that I watched I couldn't stop crying or feeling my heart being tuged to do something to help!

Inspiration:
I have always had a heart to help with the children soldiers in Africa but going to school for International Studies and Social Work isn't enough for me I want to do something now to help, not wait until I am through with my degree. Invisible Children made me find the drive inside myself and the belief to do something about it.

Story:
I make cards for my friends and family and for the longest time everyone has told me to sell them some place but I never flet the drive because it was something I did just for fun that was encouraging those around me. After I watched Invisible Children the movie I felt the pull of my heart and the need to do what I knew needed to be done. So I am the process of creating more cards to be sold at different coffee shops locally and in other states, but here is the key...all the money that I make off the cards will be sent to Invisible Children, and at the same time introduce Invisible Children to so many more hearts around the states. I have God on my side and through him all things are possible!

That day has come, There is reason now, The problem is clear, the solution is up to YOU.

Thoughts:
what kind of a question is that? If you're going to ask someone a question after watching IC it should be "how has this movie changed your LIFE?"

Here stands an empty space. An empty space to symbolize an empty thought. An empty thought that was never caught. In my mind it will always remain. Until the day that it will be sustained. That day has come, There is reason now, The problem is clear, the solution is up to YOU.

Story:
In August of 06 I decided to go to Gulu with a Lincoln Christian College group as volunteers to IC. I wont tell you all about it but heres a little. a journal entree Day one in Gulu. we are staying in the IC volunteer house. Its a pretty cool place. I went to bed last night fearful of having bugs crawl on my body, even though I had a mosquito net covering me. I woke up to the sound of roosters and dim sunlight softly pushing its way into our room. I went outside with my camera to find a type of atmosphere not typically found back home. The sun wasn't too bright, it was just enough to warm the air and give an almost unreal florescent light through the compound fence and multilayered clouds. The light of the African sun is what captivated me today. friday- wow, so, we went to a camp where IC makes those bracelets. We sat and watched as they made them. We went outside and walked through the village camp and saw naked children with torn shirts and runny noses. Some held my hand and we walked together, then we sat down to watch the traditional dance they had prepared. While watching, the hut behind us caught on fire, se we got up and most everyone watched and didnt know what to do, so I stared to help, I saw a woman move the straw roof to the side and some men took the rest off so it wouldnt catch all the way. It was no use, the roof was engulfed in flames, I started to walk towards the well and asked a lady to fill up one of the containers, I took it back and did what I could to help. Later when we left i began ballin in the car, I was thinking, 'this should not have happened, he last his home, - earlier tonight it RAINED! I went outside and watched the lightening. I felt the drops land on my face. I closed my eyes and every time a drop would land on me, my mental picture would generate a light of where it hit my body, every time it would it, it would light in my mind. I would feel it hit my eyelashes and fingertips and forehead and lips and neck...African Rain..aaaah,,,African Rain. -So after this long week of camp we had for HEALS, its now the end, we had the dramas and the parents there to watch them. The kids pics were up and their art work too. I will never forget these children, how they taught me how to do their traditional dance, how we played soccer, they stories, the relationships, the awkward moments and the connection moments. I can share more if you want, but im kinda busy right now, with college and all, im making a big 7by10 canvas at school to draw awareness about displace me, trying to get some people to go.

it really showed raw truth of the human soul. That such evil and pain can be counteracted by such love and compassion.

I loved the film. It really touched me.

Story:
When i saw this movie I was so impressed. Not only was it done in a non-corny-guilt-trip way, but it really showed raw truth of the human soul. That such evil and pain can be counteracted by such love and compassion. Im still stunned that the world has surpessed itself to this chaos. I come from a very weathly family who maintain there money as if we were poor people from the slums. After i watched this movie, i donated the only 40 dollars i had on me. Something about this movie touched me deeper then i have ever been touched. I saw a movie on Darfur, and Iraq, but nothing really bothered me like this movie did. I was distrubed. You asked what I will do, and I feel that I can do something. Talk. This is sure, I'll never forget those kids. Who I don't even know, but love. Isn't that wierd? I love people I have never even met. I love them. So I have decided that with whatever I can do, I will make my parents care. Thats all I can do. Share with them what I know... and ask for some money. I'm sure they will help.

The film was very moving and inspiring. It was good to see the truth of the devastating situation, but it was equally encouraging to see the hope and joy the children have as well.

As a techer, a mother, an adult with insightfulness of the greed and selfishness that ravishes our country I felt it was time to quit talking to my students about how others in the world are not as lucky as we are but show them.

Thoughts:
It was amazing, true, honest, terrifying, heartrending, appalling, bloodcurdling and lastly sad...beyond words. The boys who put their lifes and hearts into this plight of love and compassion are most enlightening.

Inspiration:
As a techer, a mother, an adult with insightfulness of the greed and selfishness that ravishes our country I felt it was time to quit talking to my students about how others in the world are not as lucky as we are but show them. Expose them to true lives that are terrorized and lives of children who will never have a true life. The film served as a facilitator for my students to promote their thinking and compassion for others.

Tell People:
We are not the only Nation that is troubled, however our trouble is more political not deadly. We are blinded by our American dream to have it all no matter who is stepped on...and it is unfortunate...because life , living, peace and the end of world starvation and war should be the only dream in which we as humans should be striving for.

Story:
I am a 7th grade teacher-my speaciality area is Africa and Latin America. I teach in an area of Phoenix, Arizona that is predominantly Hispanic and low income. I try on a daily basis to give my students more than just a cirriculum teaching. I expose them to wars, starvation, genocide, political rebel activities, death, destruction and ultimately the unfortunate desire of man to destroy one another. It is difficult to express in words how this film has made an impact on my students. In a world where fame, fortune and celebrity status appears to be the goal in the majority of the young, this film has brought forth cognitive thinking that goes beyond the need of the individaul. My students want to learn more about the children of Uganda, Sudan. My students and I are now on our way creating a project that will benefit your children/our children hopefully in many ways. We are excited about our project and hope we will be successful at our funding venue. In addition I deal with children who have left their third world country, under the violent, biased scrutinay of Border Patrol , in hopes of securing a better life that promotes, security, health and equal treatment. My students are lucky and they are now realizing just how lucky they are and how they can help secure a better life for others.
