I'm making my sweet sixteen a fundraiser for IC!!

Thoughts:
the film was very sad. it made me cherish lots of things, but i was also angry at the people that think it is ok, to do those things to children.

Inspiration:
the video

Tell People:
live life to the fullest, because there is someone out there who wishes they had a good life just like people in america, but people find things wrong with it everyday.

Story:
I have always gotten what i wanted, and had things handed too me without working for it. I looked at school as boring, and a waste of time. I know now school is not those things at all. After watching the video and seeing all the kids, wishing they could go to school, made me realize how important school really is. I know i don't thank God everyday for my parents, friends, family, and school. I think it is definately something i will start to cherish, considering those kids have none of those things, except occasionally friends. I am having the biggest and best sweet sixteen a girl could ever ask for, one thing i am doing differently then most girls my age, is making my huge party a fundraiser for invisible children. I can invited up to 700, and I will have everyone pay a 5 dollar entrance fee. With that i can raise up to 3500 dollar, but I do not want to stop there, I would love to sell the bracelets, and take more action in this mission.

We have noticed that the "ME Generation" isn't ALWAYS self-centered.

Thoughts:
The Invisible Children film was the most moving film I have seen to this day. No other movie, documentary or short film even comes close to being as inspiring as this one is.

Inspiration:
Seeing what the war was doing to the kids in Uganda and to the rest of the people in the war-torn areas of Northern Uganda pushed many of us into getting involved and showing the movie.

Tell People:
Don't be afraid to think of ideas. BRAINSTORM! Even if you think the idea is whacky, talk to people and see what they think about it! You can d bowling tournamnets, battle of the bands, ANYTHING to raise awareness. Also, try to get over your fear of public speaking if you have it. I'm not a good public speaker, but I got up in front of about 300 people and talked about things that are happening. Don't be afraid to let loose and be yourself! Anything to get the message across that there are people who have it worse off than you.

Story:
I am part of a group in Northern Cincinnati called Unified for UNIFAT. UNIFAT, or the Upper Nile Institute For Appropriate Technology, is a school in Northern Uganda that we sponsor. We are associated with Invisible Children still, but we are focusing more on UNIFAT. We had the Great Lakes Roadies come to an Overnight Event we had on February 24-25 and they said that it was amazing. We have been informed that Massive Attack is coming in 2 WEEKS to see us. Invisible Children is always in our heart and we are raising awareness for high school kids to make them see that there is more going on than what the media wants us to see. We have noticed that the "ME Generation" isn't ALWAYS self-centered. From personal experiences, I have been overwhemed by how much high school students really do care. We had over 250 kids at the event...we had so many more sign up that we had to turn people down! The impact that the roadies and the videos that were shown at the Overnight had on the kids is outstanding. All I can say is that Invisible Children keeps changing lives and continues to change mine everytime that I see it. There are currently about 6 or 7 high schools involved with Unified for UNIFAT and Invisible Children.

Story:
It was really an eye opener for me because i really didn't stop and think about all the luxuries that i have. i really thought that Invisible children made me more thankful for living in a place where we dont have to be afraid of someone abducting us and brainwashing us and killing us. It also showed me that there are invisible children not only in Africa but around the world.

I am ready to do everything i can to help these children

Thoughts:
SO inspirational and well done. I have not seen any other film taht has affected me and inspired me so much. I thought Al Gore's movie on global warming was powerful, and it is, but the invisible children tops it off. I am ready to take action now, and i am determined to change what is going on in our world AND knock some sense into president bush.

Inspiration:
It played at my high school for the senior class, and my english teacher was so inspired, and she wanted to share it with us.

Tell People:
That the movie was so incredible and brought a new light to my life. I am ready to do everything i can to help these children.

Story:
I just finished the movie in my english class today, and i am inspired. I'm going to contact the town hall in my town and have the movie play there. Then I am going to write a letter to president bush, URGE him to do something now. I joined the schools for schools group at my high school, and we have already planned a stand up comedy event! I also just bought the movie from you guys, and the three bracelet pack.

Story:
I was watching the documentary with my youth group and it made everyone want to do something. We made a list on the board of what the kids could use but then my youth pator made a very important comment all of those things could be used right here in NC but i am still intersted in helping

My youth group and I are hosting a run to raise money for Invisible Children.

Thoughts:
I love the film. It is such an eye opener. I had no clue that things were this bad in Africa. I mean, i knew it was rough; but not like this. I think the film and especially the other commercials are brilliantly artistic and appealing; perfect to bring in a new generation of people who care.

Inspiration:
The movie and the collective idea that our group had to do something big to help out as much as we could.

Tell People:
Watch the movie. Get involved.

Story:
My youth group and I are hosting a run. We are just now finishing up the planning and hope to host the event on May 20, 2007. If possible, we would love to have one of the groups who do the screenings at our event to sell all their cool stuff and can give a better testimony to people there about what's going on in uganda, rather than a friend of mine or myself. Runners are getting pledges per mile. All the money is going to you guys at IC and we trust that you will help the kids in Uganda with it.

I wanted to jump on a plane to Africa.

This is probally the biggest and helpful thing i have ever done so this is a big deal for me.

Thoughts:
wow i never thought about how lucky i am to have my family and teachers who cares about me so much. i realized that those kids don't have teachers to teach them and parents that care for them. and now i just feel bad for having all this stuff i have and those kids have nothing. this movie really moved me you guys should keep this up.

Tina Fronk

It was wonderful and devasting at the same time.

Thoughts:
I was very moved and inspired to act on behalf of these suffering children.

Inspiration:
I went to an event last April and was inspired by the story of the cihldren, so I wanted to spread the word!

Tell People:
HAVE YOUR OWN SHOWING! Sure, maybe not many people will show up, but isn't it worth it to let people know about this issue? Impacting one person is better than none.

Story:
I went to an event last April and was inspired by the story of the cihldren. As a result, I arranged a small showing of the video at my public library for my senior thesis. Only about forty people showed up, but that means forty more people are inspired to tell the story of these children. Also, I had my guests fill out a survey of how the film made them feel, and about the presentation. Of all the comment sheets, at least three forths of them stated that they would visit the invisible children website and one even said she would mail a check to the Invisible Children Foundation in California!!! Many want to purchase the bracelets, and want to tell everyone about the situation happening in Uganda. It was a success, and I can only hope that my guests are as inspired as I am.

Getting Best Buy involved!

Thoughts:
It was the most touching thing I've ever seen. It changed my whole life in an instant.

Inspiration:
I have been on a soap box for a year and sometimes it feels like my words fall upon deaf ears. I want to show the movie to my coworkers so that they can see it first hand. I also want to be able to say that they are now responsible. They are responsible for the information they have obtained and they are responsible for what they will DO with it from here on out. Ignorance is no longer an excuse!

Tell People:
Just to start small- talk with friends, family, coworkers. From there you'd be amazed at the interest you spark and those who are in positions to help the cause even more. I never would have thought the management at my job, in big corporate America, would be so willing to help!

Story:
Invisible Children has been a large part of my life for the past year, but for the first time I am really able to make an impact on a large scale. I'm launching a three tier program at my part time job at Best Buy. The management is on board and they have committed to three stages. The first is a screening at work on March 25. The second is a monthly fundraiser to raise $100 a month. (And if that goal is not met each month a manager will pay the difference.) The third is attendance at Displace Me, which will be an official store event and already has several people signed up. My general manager is also presenting the information I put together on Invisible Children at a territory meeting to motivate and challenge all local Best Buys to step up and do what our store is doing!
