Invisible Children: Rough Cut really made me want to help them have better lives.

Thoughts:
The film was a very touching and informative video that really made me feel like I wanted to help. Invisible Children came and spoke at my school and shared the video and I can honestly say every student wanted to do something to raise money for the children. It really made me want to help them have better lives. I cannot imagine having to constantly be worried about being kidnapped or murdered everywhere I go and it is not right for those innocent kids to have to live like that.

Inspiration:
At my 16th birthday party I was thinking about all of the presents i would get and decided i really did not need any of it. I realized that I had an opportunity to do such a great thing and I knew that there was a ton of potential to really help the children. I knew how much my grade and my high school cared about the children and knew they would defintley love to help.

Tell People:
It really feels amazing to know that I impacted these kids lives and helped improve their lives.

Tell People:
A wise man once told me a story.... A young boy was walking down the beach picking up and throwing starfish back into the ocean...there were thousands dying on the beach and he was trying to save them. A man walked up to the boy and said "There is too many, your not making a difference." The boy picked up a starfish and threw it into the ocean, then he turned to the man and said..."It made a difference to that one." I am not trying to save the world...I just want to help.

Story:

I am a 16 year old that is willing to go to the end of the earth to achieve anything.

Thoughts:
I think that this film was a wake up call. I believe that the film was well presented in a way that was targeted to the youth of USA. I really give props to the three of you. You guys really gave my school and myself a major wake up call to come and help.

Inspiration:
Well, our event is not finished. We are just starting, but obviously, the inspiration for our IC event was the children. They touched our hearts so much that they made it feel like it was our job and duty to do everything we can for them.

Tell People:
I want to tell people that if this is not what you are interested in, get interested in something that is helpful to people who really deserve it. Contribute to a cause that really needs contribution. Help people who really need to be helped. I belive we have the most power to help people and we really need to put that power to use for the good of the world and our humanity.

Story:
I am a 16 year old that is willing to go to the end of the earth to achieve anything. Last year I put together an event for the homeless of my city. I fed them, gave them presents(it was christmas time), provided activities, and presented gifts. I love to do everything and anything in my power to achieve what is right. I am going to definitely spread this message and continue to fight for these children in Uganda, Africa.

I want people to know about Uganda. I want people to care. I want to help change lives

Thoughts:
I think this film is life changing and has the capability of changing peoples' percepton of everyday life.

Inspiration:
I just want people to care and I want to help in a big way. So I just went out there and tried to help.

Tell People:
I want to tell people that this shouldnt be happining. That we can make a difference. That once you fall in love with Africa the knowledge of what is going on there breaks your heart

Story:
So after my cousin showed me IC (I was 14) I didn't really get involved with it. When I bought my own copy though I began to fall in love with Africa. This year I am a freshman at my high school. I have done so much to show people this film. When the opportunity arose for me to show it to my Geography class I was more than happy to. After we viewed the film my teacher asked me what I wanted to do with the class. At first we just made posters but that wasn't enough for me. So I came online and searched for ideas. After I found the different cards with ideas on them I started brainstorming. Here is what I came up with, got approved and will be holding. On April 21st my geography class and I will be holding a benefit concert/fair to help raise money. We will have food, arts and crafts, games and live music. All of this will be done with the help of local sponsors and us kids. There will be a street dance, information booths and a donation center. My teacher has even e-mailed a news station. We will advertise in the local newspaper until the time arises. We have a large screen and at the end of the fair we are showing the film. I am doing all I can to make this a success. We are sending all the money we make to IC. We are also making and selling t-shirts for our big day. I want people to know about Uganda. I want people to care. I want to help change lives......even if it is only one.

Something and nothing are like night and day. You can make a difference, no matter how big or small.

Thoughts:
Its indescribable really. I have never seen anything like it before, and it touched my heart and our whole school incredibly.

Inspiration:
Several people from our school wanted to raise awareness for the children, and let the people in our township know what is going on beyond our own lives. We wanted to make a different, even if it was small, its still something.

Tell People:
No matter what you do, if you do something, that is something that is being done. Something and nothing are like night and day. You can make a difference, no matter how big or small.

Story:
Mike Capito, a math teacher at ACS, ran across the video and wanted to share it with others. He shared it with every class he had for a week, instead of the usual math programs. Now several, if not all of the people were touched, and are now traveling to Uganda and doing many other missions all over the world.

Margaret Radford

I love sharing music and art with people so I thought that it would be awesome to have a Benefit that featured both music and art.

Thoughts:
The film really moved me and made me want to help out. It was something I could not just watch and cry over, I had to do something and attempt to make a difference in some way.

Inspiration:
I love music and art. I think those are wonderful forms of expression. I love sharing music and art with people so I thought that it would be awesome to have a Benefit that featured both music and art. This way people could come for a good cause and really enjoy themselves.

Tell People:
I just want people to know that anyone and everyone can make a difference. You do not have to be rich or famous to do something great. Just be yourself and simply love. Thats making a big difference.

Story:
After I saw the film for the second time in a chapel we had at school I just felt my heart breaking. I could not sleep that night because all I could think about was how I was not helping by just taking things for granted. I talked with some friends the next day and told them that I wanted to do something to help raise money for Invisible Children. At first the plans fell through but I kept praying and finally the plans worked out and our event happened.

Cat Sauro

It's our responsability as humans to watch out for eachother... we can't let this happen anymore.

Thoughts:
I was moved by the film. To see the faces of the children and the people and the poverty and to hear what happens to the children is terrible. I feel like the film is the perfect way to raise awareness on the issue. I wish there were more out there like it.

Inspiration:
My school held a screening today and it changed my life.

Tell People:
Watch the documentary and do your part to help these children. Its our responsability as humans to watch out for eachother... we cant let this happen anymore.

Story:
I hope to get more involved in helping resolve the issue. All I can do now is buy bracelets and tshirts and tell whoever I can about it. I will also be attending the sleepout on april 29th.
